Pavement ants get their name because they make nests in or under cracks in the pavement.
The Pavement Ant is dark brown to blackish, and 2.5-4 mm long with a wingspan of approximately 3 inches wide by 4 inches tall (2” x 5”). A colony includes workers, alates, females that have only had one mating flight before molting into the queen caste; males will fly off after this questing for mates but never return again as seen from below ground level perspective – while queens are always above ground roaming around looking for food sources like protein-rich meats or sugary sweets just depending on whatever mood she’s feeling at any given time!
