Pests are any animal that harms humans, their food sources, and/or living conditions. Pests include animals that: carry disease-causing microorganisms and parasites; damage stored food by eating it – rodents like rats can eat grain in silos or rice biscuits at shops while mice may gnaw through sacks of wheat flour at home to contaminate this with their feces; destroy buildings as termites chew away the timber inside them.
And they also bite people – an example is bed bugs who are very difficult for homeowners to get rid of unless treated professionally.
